It happened to me once too. And I ended up figuring out it was the barley malt not being fresh, close to the exp date. I used a different one and it worked. Also, not sure what you used to keep it warm, but make sure it’s not too hot or cold.

No rice is floating!! I’m wondering if maybe I overcooked the rice? What am I supposed to do if the rice doesn’t float to the top?

Oh you must have bought powder if it just dissolved. It could be the type of the powder you bought that is light brown. Just try to let it sit so sediments settle at the bottom and use the clear liquid. I did notice even some Korean products yielded slightly brownish liquid. I did the soaking step but the barley malt dissolved and the water is a light brown. Is there something I did wrong?
