Hi Hyosun, I made these for festive
potluck celebration (unfortunately not the traditional date) as I fell in love with your beautiful presentation. They were an absolute hit and everyone was raving about them, even someone from South Korea. I only wish I made more! I ground my own wet short grain rice flour as I couldn’t find any in my town – this is quite laborious when using a small grinder. I found they needed steaming about twice as long – probably due to my flour or thickness of my cakes. A wonderful recipe, thank you.

Oh sorry glutinous rice flour is another name for sweet rice flour, and this rice cake is made short grain rice flour not sweet rice flour. You can try making rice flour at home with short grain rice by soaking it over night, drain for hours, and then use a powerful blender, coffee grinder, or food processor to finely ground. The flour/batter may still come out a bit grainy, not as soft, but you can certainly fix your craving.
